Christina Ambrose has announced her candidacy for Essex County Circuit Court Clerk in the November 7 General Election.
Christina was born and raised in Caroline County. She and her husband, Patrick Ambrose, moved back to his home in Essex County in 2007.
She has two children, MaKaylah Ambrose and Holdyn Ambrose, both of whom graduated from Essex High School. MaKaylah is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and Holdyn is currently attending Virginia Tech.
Before coming to work at Essex Circuit Court, Mrs. Ambrose was a paralegal for Attorney Susan K. Hafey for almost 12 years. When Hafey retired, she began working for the Commonwealth of Virginia at the Commissioner of the Revenue office.
She has worked as Essex Circuit Court Chief Deputy Clerk for Gayle Ashworth for almost seven years. She says she loves working with the police agencies, attorneys, judges, and Essex County citizens daily.
Since being with the Circuit Court, Christina has attended over 124 hours of course work with the Virginia Supreme Court. She has been a member of the Virginia Court Clerks’ Association for the past four years.
“I am honored to be appointed as your Essex County Circuit Court Clerk beginning July 1, 2023, by the Honorable Judge Herbert M. Hewitt to finish out the term of your current Clerk, Gayle Ashworth,” Mrs. Ambrose said. “I will be on the November 7 ballot, seeking election for the Circuit Court Clerk position. I would greatly appreciate the support of the citizens of Essex County.”
