A suspect has been arrested and jailed in connection with the August 7 burglary at the Tappahannock Post Office located at 400 Wright Street. Sev- eral Amazon packages were stolen during the break-in which has been investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Tappahannock Police Department, and the Chesapeake Bay Narcotics Task Force.
Trey Zaffran Alexander, 26, of Tappahannock has been charged with one count of felony attempting to enter a building at nighttime to commit larceny, one count of grand larceny, one count of misdemeanor trespassing, and one count of felony wearing of a mask to conceal identity, the Tappahannock Police Department reported on September 6.
Alexander, who was arrested September 5, was committed to the Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center in Saluda under no bond and was slated to be arraigned in Essex General District Court on September 7. That hearing has been continued to November 16.
“We still have other cases related to the post office that we are working on, but we are happy to make an arrest related to this incident,” Tappahannock Police Department Captain J.H. Siddons said.
Law enforcement indicated that two individuals were involved in the September 7 break-in.
