The King and Queen County Sheriff’s Office has announced an arrest in the Feb. 20 early-morning burglary of Bradley’s Convenience Store in St Stephens Church. In addition, the organization alleges this burglary was not an isolated incident. Investigators have tied burglaries in King and Queen, Essex, Tappahannock, Hanover, and King William, “through modern investigative means.’

A joint investigation between those localities lead to suspects Patrick Banker and Jose Rivas.

Banker was subsequently indicted and is being held at the Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center in Saluda, while awaiting his April 26 arraignment in King and Queen.

In addition, Essex County has charged Banker and Rivas with the alleged burglary of the Sunoco in Dunnsville.

Investigation into Rivas’s role in the burglaries continues.

Tappahannock Police, as well as the King William and Hanover County Sheriff’s Offices, are expected to issue charges against the pair at a later date. “We are very interested in these individuals for breaking and entering thefts to several businesses in town,” Tappahannock Police Chief James G. Ashworth said. “I’m certain that our investigation into these offenses will result in arrests in the near future.”
