Essex Puts 17 On All-NND Squad

Northern Neck District football champion Essex has accounted for 17 spots on the 33-player all-district first team as voted on by the league’s coaches.

Essex collected each of the three individual honors: Offensive Player of the Year Dorian Harris, Defensive Player of the Year Kamren Robinson, and Coach of the Year Todd Jones.

During the regular season, Harris rushed for 759 yards and 19 touchdowns on just 74 carries. He also caught 13 passes for 102 yards and two scores. He also scored three touchdowns on five kickoff returns.

Playing middle linebacker, Robinson’s regular season defensive stats featured 80 tackles, including 22 for losses, and 20 assists. He also posted 4.5 quarterback sacks, while returning an interception and a fumble for scores.

Essex players joining Harris on the first team offense were Robinson (wide receiver), Jordan Howard (wide receiver), Michael Brimmer (quarterback), Xzayviia Bundy (center), Davione Garner Rich (offensive line), and Devin Balderson (offensive line).

All are seniors with the exception of Bundy who is a freshman.

During the regular season,

Robinson caught 24 passes for 645 yards with 13 going for touchdowns. Howard averaged over 20 yards on 9 receptions, 4 of which went for scores.

Brimmer, in his first season at quarterback, completed 81-of-133 passes for 1,343 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Bundy, Garner-Rich, and Balderson were part of an offensive line that helped Essex average 49.2 points and 279 yards per outing.

Essex accounted for 9 spots on the defensive unit. The Trojans’ first team defense allowed just 6 touchdowns during the regular season.

In addition to Robinson, Trojans named to the first team defensive unit are Amarjae Veney (defensive end), Garner-Rich (down lineman), Balderson (down lineman), Bryan Roane (linebacker), Javione Garner-Rich (all-purpose), and Harris (defensive back and punt returner). Robinson was also the first team selection at punter.

Other first team offensive selections are Colonial Beach’s Lemyreon Brown (offensive line), Northumberland’s Khyshawn Blue (offensive line), Bladen Sydnor (tight end) of Rappahannock, Lancaster’s Darius Smith (wide receiver), Shaun Johnson (running back) of Colonial Beach, Nothumberland’s Antwan Mills (running back), Luis Martinez-Silva (kicker) of Rappahannock, and Northumberland’s Cameron Seldon (kickoff returner and allpurpose).

Also named to the first team defense are Colonial Beach’s Brown (down lineman) and Johnson (linebacker), Rappahannock’s J.K. Fauntleroy (defensive back), Northumberland’s Marcus Bromley (defensive end) and Milton Laws Jr. (defensive back), Lancaster’s Daveon Smith (defensive back), and Westmoreland’s Kevin Ellis (linebacker) and Jordan Saunders (defensive back).

Second team offensive selections from Essex are Quincy Canada (offensive lineman), Mekhi Allen (wide receiver), and Harris (kickoff returner).

Essex second team defensive selections are Robinson (punt returner), Canada (down lineman), and Allen (defensive back).

The Trojans have won outright or shared 13 NND titles in Jones’s 20 years as head coach at Essex.
