The Essex High baseball team suffered its first Northern Neck District loss of the season on April 9, a 7-6 eight inning decision to Rappahannock.
Carter Sullivan’s walk-off double scored Chase Self with the game-winning run. Self led off the bottom of the eight by reaching on an error and advanced to second on a passed ball.
Down 6-3, Essex knotted the score with three runs in the sixth inning.
Noah Thompson delivered a run-scoring single, while an error produced the second run and a Zay Bundy bases loaded walk accounted for the third run.
Kyran Howard had two hits for Essex.
Two days later, Essex dropped a 15-4 five inning NND result to Northumberland.
The Trojans managed just two hits.
