CASON CHILTON
A hunting accident has taken the life of a young teen on the cusp of celebrating his graduation from Aylett Country Day School.
On May 17 2025, at approximately 5:38 p.m., Lancaster County Deputies responded to the 400 Block of Russell Lane in Lancaster for the report of a self-inflicted accidental shooting. Deputies arrived on scene at approximately 5:46 p.m. and immediately rendered first aid to the victim.
The victim was identified as Cason Chilton, 14 years of age. Lancaster County Emergency Services arrived on scene and took over treating Chilton. Chilton was airlifted by LifeEvac to VCU Children’s Hospital in Richmond.
LifeEvac had to divert back to Rappahannock General Hospital after Chilton succumbed to his injuries onboard.
