Crash Takes Life Of Local Woman

A Tappahannock woman has lost her life in an early morning crash in Henrico County on Saturday, May 3.

At approximately 2:20 a.m., Henrico Police responded to the area of Mechanicsville Turnpike at the border with Hanover County for the report of a single-vehicle crash. On scene, officers located the vehicle in the westbound lanes of Mechanicsville Turnpike. With the assistance of Hanover County Deputies, the driver, an adult female, and sole occupant of the vehicle was extracted through the passenger side of the vehicle. Henrico Fire responded and pronounced the driver deceased.

Investigators identified the deceased as Morishia Vershonda Robinson, 41, of Tappahannock.

Preliminary reports from investigators indicate that Robinson was driving eastbound on Mechanicsville Turnpike towards Hanover when she struck the guardrail on the right hand side of the road. Her vehicle then veered left, crossed the median, and collided with the jersey wall along the westbound lanes of Mechanicsville Turnpike. Speed and lack of a seatbelt are believed to be factors in this crash.
