St. Margaret’s School in Tappahannock reached its recent fundraising goal and remains in good standing with the The Episcopal Diocese of Virginia, SMS Board of Directors chair Dr. Elizabeth Crowther told the Rappahannock Times this week. “We fundraise all year long and do a particular sprint in January because we are part of Church Schools of the Diocese of Virginia,” Crowther explained about the recent fundraising effort. “They want every school to demonstrate in January that they have full funds for another full year of operations. That’s part of the tune that all of the schools dance to.” Crowther said the school is currently issuing contracts to teachers and students, and noted it has experienced a 30 percent increase in application activity. Crowther also noted that the school is involved with partnerships with local government, organizations and businesses. “Things are going well at St. Margaret’s,” Crowther concluded. The Episcopal Diocese of Virginia established St. Margaret’s in 1921. The school has occupied its Water Lane campus since 1922.
