Essex Woman’s Club Scholarships Renewed


The Woman’s Club of Essex County is pleased to announce that the following students have qualified for renewal of their scholarships. These renewable scholarships are awarded from the Catesby and Lila Maddox Ware Memorial Scholarship at the Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia.

Rodrigo Ayala and Kayleigh Bristow both completed undergraduate degrees in three years and are graduating this spring. Kayleigh will receive her fourth year of scholarship to go to graduate school. Two other 2020 graduates will receive renewable scholarships.

India Bundy attends Virginia State University where she is majoring in Middle School Education/ English. Leah Carneal attends Liberty University as a Psychology (Counseling) major. Returning as sophomores are four 2021 graduates who will also have scholarships renewed.

Alexandra (Lexie) Harris will go to Christopher Newport University. Emily Atkins will return to Christopher Newport University majoring in Studio Art and minoring in graphic design and art history. Alexis Barrett will go to Bon Secours working towards a degree in nursing. Aaliyah Leonard will return to VA Tech for engineering.

The following 2022 Essex graduates will also have their scholarships renewed. Shamari Garnett will return to VCU, Madison Nelson will return to the University of Chicago, McKenna Condrey will continue her studies at Lynchburg College, and Michalah Beck will return to Christopher Newport.
