Rudolph Hermon Jeter of Tappahannock Virginia, passed away peacefully, at his residence on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the age of almost 101. After serving time in the Navy during WWII, he returned to the Caroline and Essex Counties, Virginia. He was self employed for many years, farming, cutting and hauling pulp wood, and later was employed at the Tidewater Lumber Yard. At the age of 80, he retired but continued to be active for numerous years maintaining his equipment, his properties, and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his brother Hilton Williams, and sisters Russell Farmer and Rhoda Nelson, of Caroline County, a great niece of Washington, DC, and his Grandson Brian Glaude of Fort Washington, MD, and two sons-in-law (John Richardson and Lethel Caldwell). He is survived by his wife Elsie of almost 78 years, three daughters, Ann Caldwell, Thelma Richardson, Helen Gunn (James Gunn), and one son, Joseph Jeter (Cynthia), 9 grandchildren, 14 great grand children. He was always a kind person to all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at Saint John’s Baptist Church at 155 St. Johns Church Road, Tappahannock, VA, 22560 on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Viewing will be held from 11 a.m.- noon, and the service will start at 12:00. The Interment will be at The Jeter Family Cemetery (438 Jeter Lane, Tappahannock, VA), immediately following the service. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the Jeter Family Cemetery and flowers may be sent to the Washington Funeral Home.
