In a game called in the bottom of the second inning due to the lopsidedness of the score, Essex crushed Franklin 19-0 in a non-district baseball encounter on April 21.

The contest was played at Ashton Field in Tappahannock.

The Trojans’ Jay Jeter singled in each of his three first inning plate appearances as Essex sent 21 batters to to the plate and scored 17 runs.

Five of Essex’s 13 hits went for extra bases.

Hunter Byrd doubled and tripled, while Kameron Gaines tripled and Kyran Howard and Zay Bundy produced triples.

In addtion to Jeter’s three hits, Byrd, Howard and Keion Hence produced multihit outings.

Jeter and Noah Thompson scored three runs each.

Meanwhile, Aiden McGirt struck out three and allowed just a single base runner (a walk) in his two innings of mound work.
