Northern Neck District champion Essex has swept the top honors in the 2025 all-league selections that were announced this week.
Essex earned five spots on the 16-player first team offense and five on the 16-player defense.
Senior running back Jaden Holmes was named the district’s Offensive Player of the Year.
During the regular season, Holmes rushed for 1,533 yards and 24 touchdowns in nine games. He led the conference in rushing and scoring (180 points).
Senior linebacker Zay Bundy was tapped as the league’s Defensive Player of the Year.
He registered 81 tackles (18 for losses), 5 sacks, 6 forced fumbles, 1 interception, 2 pass breakups, 1 safety, and 1 blocked field goal during the regular season.
Meanwhile, the Trojans’ Todd Jones was named the district’s Coach of the Year after piloting Essex to an undefeated regular season campaign.
Jones recorded his 250th career victory (in stops at Essex, Pulaski County, and Washington & Lee) in the Trojans’ season opener and now has 230 victories at Essex.
Other Essex first team offensive selections were sophomore running back Demetrius Stewart, senior center Tristan Marshall, and senior linemen Daniel Walker and Taivian Holmes.
During the regular season, Stewart rushed for 1,055 yards while scoring 11 touchdowns. He also posted 12 two-point-conversions.
Marshall, Walker and Holmes anchored an offensive line that helped the Trojans average 406 yards and 49.3 points per outing during the regular season.
Bundy was joined by teammates Jahkir Shelton (lineman), Jodecee Cox (lineman), and Markeise Braxton (defensive back) on the first team defensive unit.
Shelton is a junior, while Cox and Braxton are sophomores.
The Essex defense allowed a meager 2.5 yards per rush during the regular season while limiting the opposition to an average of 144 yards per contest.
Essex second team offensive selections were sophomore Isaiah Johnson (lineman) and Bundy (running back).
Second team defensive selections from Essex were Taivian Holmes (sown lineman) and sophomores Tim Walker (linebacker), Jaden Holmes (all-purpose) and J.J. Brooks (defensive back).
Other first team offensive selections were:
Rappahannock — Remmington Houck (lineman), Carter Sullivan (tight end), Kenneth Madison (running back), Christian Destin (wide receiver), Zion Sumiel (kick returner), and C.J. Kelly (all-purpose).
Northumberland — Cameron Minor (lineman), Tyreek Lundy (quarterback), Jamarius Barber (wide receiver), and Lyndon Williams (wide receiver).
Westmoreland — Jesaias Perez-Navarro (kicker).
Additional first team defensive picks were:
Rappahannock — Carter Sullivan (down lineman), Chase Self (linebacker), Kevin Fauntleroy Jr. (linebacker), Samuel Kelly (linebacker), L’Mari Ellis-Thomas (defensive back), C.J. Kelly (defensive back), and Landen King (punt returner).
Northumberland — Kamden Dobyns (down lineman), Camden Brann (linebacker), and Tyreek Lundy (defensive back).
Westmoreland — Marco Diaz (punter).
Colonial Beach — Chris Warren (all-purpose).
