MASHELL CARLTON

Patricia Mashell Carlton, 49, of Tappahannock, VA, and treasured daughter of Fred Rodgers Hutson and Joann Arrington Hutson of Tappahannock, transitioned from this life on the glorious spring morning of April 21st, 2024, in Richmond, VA.

She was born on August 31, 1974 in Richmond, Virginia. In 1992, she graduated from Essex High School in Tappahannock, VA, and shortly thereafter, united in holy matrimony to her lifelong sweetheart, James “Sparky” Carey Carlton III of Tappahannock, VA.

She was a devoted mother and wife, known for loving her children unconditionally and found joy in cross-stitching, playing board games with her family, and summer visits to Alabama visiting her grandparents and family. In her younger years, she spent time playing the piano and was formally recognized for her musical talent.

She was a faithful Christian and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. Committed to her Savior Jesus Christ, she never met a stranger, saw the good in everyone, and served faithfully wherever she could. She performed volunteer service at Tappahannock Manor during her high school years, and dedicated herself to her church callings; sending countless uplifting letters and cards to members, and served as Secretary of the Primary, and Compassionate Service Leader.
